When people think of garbage trucks, they tend to think of only one kind. However, there are a number of different types of trucks. With that said, below are some of the different types of garbage trucks.
1. Rear-Loaders- These types of garbage trucks have an opening at the rear, and this is where a waste collector is located. The collector can take the contents of containers and place it inside the dumpster that is built into the truck. This type of garbage truck is ideal for operators because it allows them to collect large containers and bags of trash without having to do it by hand. The truck is equipped with a system that lifts trash cans or contains and turns them upside down to empty them out and then return it back to the ground.
2. Side Loader Trucks- These kinds of garbage trucks are loaded from the side, hence the name. They can either be loaded manually or automated, which means that containers can be grabbed with an automated lift and then emptied into the truck. The truck features an aperture, which is where the trash is forced to go through, and then it is compacted. One of the best things about this type of truck is only one person has to operate it, which means you can use it to collect containers without the help of another person.
3. Front Loader Trucks- This type of truck is equipped with automated forks that are located in the front, and the forks go right into a waste container’s sleeves. Once the forks have been inserted, then it lifts the container and turns it upside down to empty out the contents. After the contents have been emptied into the truck, it is compacted and moved towards the rear of the truck. Many businesses and residential customers rely on these types of garbage trucks to collect waste, and some of these trucks can move slowly, while picking up containers, which makes them one of the most useful types of garbage trucks.
4. Roll Off Trucks- These types of trucks are very popular and they are used to transport dumpsters. This type of truck is often used to collect waste at construction sites, and the dumpster is literally rolled off of the truck and rolled back onto it when it’s ready to be picked up. For example, a roll off truck can deliver a dumpster to a construction site or wherever it’s needed, and then the dumpster is filled and then placed back onto the truck, where it is taken to be properly disposed of. This kind of truck is extremely popular with those in the construction industry, but it is used in both residential and commercial settings.
Those are the different types of garbage trucks. Each one has their own unique features and come in handy in many situations. If you need a garbage truck, then make sure you research the different ones and then decide which one you should get.
